Dr. Milagros Bello

Dr. Milagros Bello is a Miami based curator for Contemporary Art with a wide art experience and knowledge of international and local artists, as well as of Latin American Art. She currently teaches as a full time professor of art at the Miami International University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Sociology of Art at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She also obtained a Master in Art History, and a Master  in Social Sciences at the same university. She is currently a Member of the International Art Critics Association (AICA-PARIS), and a Member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM-UNESCO). She has taught art and critical theories, at the Florida Atlantic University (FAU), and at the Florida International University (FIU). She was the Senior Editor of Arte al Dia international art magazine located in Miami. She writes for Arte al Dia magazine, Wynwood Art Magazine, Art Districts, Nuevo Herald, Arte Al Limite, and NY Arts magazine. From 2003 to 2007 she was the curator of Trends at the Arteamericas art fair. She has curated numerous important shows such as Happily Ever After, Objecthood, Hardcore: Menu Samples and Dishes, among others, at Hardcore Art Contemporary Space. She was the curator of the “International New Media Festival” first and second editions, 2006 and 2007 respectively with more than 50 participant international artists in new media technologies. On December 2008 she curated NOBE 67 ART with more than 70 international and national artists  at the Deauville Hotel in Miami Beach, during the Art Basel Season.

Dr. Bello is currently the director and chief curator of the Curator's Voice Art Projects, an space for curatorial projects that foster the  Contemporary Art; it is located in the Wynwood Art District, Miami. She was commissioned to be Curator of the Contemporary Latin American Section in the Latin American Pavilion, SHANGHAI ART FAIR, (2010). She has provided art lectures and talks at museums and art institutions, such Miami Art Museum, Museum of Latin American Art, Lowe Art Museum, among others. In addition to the above application of her knowledge, she has been the Docent Coordinator at the Miami Art Museum from 2003 to 2004.

Dr. Bello has acquired a body of knowledge and experience that has benefited academics, art literature and institutions of visual arts.  Her goal is to continue in providing benefit  by applying this body of knowledge to museums, universities and related art environments.

Dr. Bello created an Art Coaching Program for Artists to explore and stimulate the creative process, to review and evaluate the artworks and their potential, to examine the artist’s direction and the different possibilities for his/her insertion into the art field. The Art Coaching Program is applied individually through private sessions.
